Boots on the Ground, Students in the Seats
In collaboration with Chicago Public Schools and Charter and Private schools, AKAM’s Attendance Management program deploys Transition Specialists who conduct home visits, in-school shadowing, and offer wrap-around services for students and their families. These services are designed to help students get back on track at school and able to maintain good attendance.
The Attendance Management program encourages improved school attendance by helping to remove obstacles to students’ academic progress. Through the Transition Specialists’ consistent home and school visits, the Attendance Management program addresses any behavioral issues, parental involvement, and identifies the students’ most pressing challenges, such as clothing needs, hair care, and transportation.
