Director’s BIO

Ida M. Brown brings over 15 years of professional experience in public health and community development. She is the Co-Founder of A Knock At Midnight and currently serves as the President and Director of Operations. She is responsible for establishing internal operating procedures and making changes as needed to improve the agency’s efficiency and programs’ effectiveness.

Ms. Brown is the authoritative source of budget and fiscal information for the agency. She’s responsible for the system of accounting and fiscal record keeping, managing approved budgets, and expenditures, and making recommendations and requests for budget revisions. She also assist in developing external funding strategies which include preparation of RFP’s and follow-ups.

In addition Ms. Brown hires, supervises, and evaluates administrative and technical support staff, either directly or through appropriate supervisors and determines work assignments and work schedules to most effectively meet department/division needs, and has principal responsibility for resolving personnel problems.

She also plays a critical role in providing direct service and facilitates best practice and evidence base trainings and curriculum through workshops, seminars, and trainings.

The framework behind the name of our organization came from a sermon titled “A Knock At Midnight” preached by the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
