Outreach Programs 1 & 2

AKAM’s Outreach Program is one of the cornerstones of the organization’s services. We hire outreach workers who live in the communities we serve. We respect their ability to establish trusting relationships and understand barriers.

The outreach message depends on the focus of community needs. The goal of community outreach is to provide:

    • Increased awareness of social justice issues
    • Vocational skill development programs
    • Workforce development opportunities
    • Attendance, truancy services, and dropout prevention services to schools
    • Violence Prevention educational workshops (i.e. life skills, financial literacy, job readiness, “Know your rights”, etc.) to community members

Depending on the nature of community initiatives, outreach services are tailors to meet the needs of the communities in which we serve.

The framework behind the name of our organization came from a sermon titled “A Knock At Midnight” preached by the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
