A Knock At Midnight's Teen Reach Program

The Teen REACH program was established in 1998. The acronym R.E.A.C.H. stands for Responsibility, Education, Achievement, Caring, and Hope. This program provides positive services and activities for youth between the ages of 6-17 during out-of-school hours.

Teen REACH has helped hundreds of youths stay out of trouble in school. The main goal of this program is to increase academic success while reducing risk-taking behaviors such as substance abuse, criminal activities, and school misconduct.

This program seeks specifically to address the following core elements:
  • Improve Academic Performance, which includes Homework Time with AKAM Tutors helping with basic skills.
  • Recreational Sports & Activities that provide opportunities to Try New Skills, Build Friendships, and Participate in Age-Appropriate Activities.
  • Adult Mentors, who help Develop and Maintain Positive Relationships.
  • Life Skills education that also provides Abstinence Education, and Character Development Training.
  • Parental Involvement, in which Caregivers participate in events that strengthen Parent/Child Bonds.

The framework behind the name of our organization came from a sermon titled “A Knock At Midnight” preached by the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
